Directions
Don't worry about turning in this essay until our class meets in August.
Overview - Write an essay (2 full pages in MLA format) in which you apply three ideas from HTRLLAP to the movie or short story. DO NOT write an introduction or conclusion to this essay. Simply write three body paragraphs, each of which will apply a different chapter from HTRLLAP to the movie/story. Be sure to use details from the movie. Also, do not quote or explain Foster's concepts from HTRLLAP in your essay. You're just applying these concepts to the movie, and I already know the concepts.
Example Layout - Remember, no intro or conclusion. Your essay will be three paragraphs long. As an example, someone might write their first paragraph about examples of the weather in the movie and what they signified. The second paragraph might talk about examples of meals in the movie and what they show about the characters and their relationships. The last paragraph might cover a quest in the text and how it matched up with the five parts of a quest that Foster gave.

How will I be graded?
Because this is more of a personal essay, the rubric is different from what we'll use throughout the year. It's also much more flexible. Please note that I'll take off five points for each missing half page. No external sources are needed, so none should be used besides HTRLLAP and the movie.
- An "A" paper clearly applies HTRLLAP to the movie.
- An "A" paper uses roughly two specific examples from the movie per body paragraph.
- An "A" paper doesn't just give examples but also shows genuine thought about how Foster's concepts apply.
- An "A" paper has few grammatical or mechanical errors.
